Whenever the sun is out, Redcar is packed with hundreds of people enjoying its miles of sandy beaches - it really is the ultimate playground for people who just want to have fun. There are also a wide variety of pubs, nightclubs and restaurants to compliment this - and plenty of arcades on the front to attract young and old alike. A huge indoor fun fair and sport facilities are situated on the promenade, close by the beach. And those who stroll along the newly designed Esplanade can see the seafaring tradition of Redcar come to life. Fresh fish, crabs and lobsters can be bought daily and straight from the boats as they come into the harbour. And anyone wanting to wander further afield can visit the RNLI Zetland Museum and see the world's oldest surviving lifeboat while uncovering much of Redcar's nautical past. And if that doesn't appeal - which is highly unlikely - then there is always Redcar Racecourse to get down to between May and November for some superb fixtures.
